With sites ranging from .44 to over 2 acres there is plenty of variance in lot size and layout. With homes built in styles from contemporary to comfortable-mountain, each house tailors to the owner’s desires. But even with the differences between homes, the development is unified through its unprecedented location and beautiful layout.A development located less than a mile from the Gondola, the Sanctuary is aptly named, giving you a safe haven among the crowds to relax in at the end of the day.
In addition to being steps away from a summer and winter playground, the Sanctuary is home to one of the best trail systems within a development in Steamboat. Allowing you to wake in the early morning and be a few minutes walk away from single-track trails. With one trail connecting up to Fish Creek Falls, you have miles of trails to enjoy right out your back door. The development wraps around the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Championship Golf Course, giving homes easy access to a game of golf and fantastic views. The golf course is beautifully maintained and, in the winter, transforms into a regular training ground for Nordic skiers from all over the Valley.
Living so close to the mountain while still living in a secluded community is a unique experience. The Sanctuary gives you the opportunity to find the right house for you in one of the best developments in town.

Living in downtown Steamboat Springs offers a different lifestyle than homes on the mountain. Having the ability to bike or walk easily to so many restaurants, stores, some of the best trails and sections of river in town. Downtown Steamboat has excellent walkabilitiy scores because everything is so close. Many downtown residents will tell you they enjoy the ability to stay out of their cars for days at a time. Living in downtown Steamboat is a great place for families as well and people of all ages. Downtown is great for kids because once they get comfortable being out by themselves they can have the freedom to walk to school and bike to friends homes easily and safely. Steamboat’s downtown is very different than many cities from a safety perspective. You do need to know where your kids are and have a system for checking in but kids can have the same freedoms many of us grew up with in small towns like mine in St. Joseph, MI.
The types of downtown living options varies as well. Single family homes can be found extending for blocks north of downtown. Or if you are looking to live right in the middle of Lincoln Ave, Steamboat’s main street, there are a few beautiful condos and townhomes. This allows you to decide what type of property best suits you. Homes north of downtown extend for blocks and with the different styles, layouts and neighborhoods if you are interested in finding a home near the schools, trails and Yampa River, living in downtown Steamboat could be the best place for you. Luxury condos in Howelsen Place and The Olympian provide condos that range from studios to 3 bedroom condos, allowing you to experience turnkeyurban living in a mountain town. For more information on living downtown in Steamboat Springs, feel free to check out our website or give us a call at 970.879.0879.
