As you wake-up, stretch, and glance out the window you won’t be able to hide a smile. The beauty that surrounds you, the beauty you are a part of. You watch as a heard of elk stumble by or as a flock of sparrows gracefully skim the top of water.  Looking out across the acres of your ranch or perhaps onto the shallow tail-waters that grace the view from your bedroom window, it is sure to be a motivating factor that wakes you each morning.

And this is all taken in getting out of bed. Imagine the rest of the day. Countless hours can be spent just watching the grass grow, and it is sure to still be considered a productive day.

A few places that are particularly notable for this type of lifestyle are listed below. If this lifestyle sounds like it would suit you well, feel free to contact me. I would love the opportunity to discuss some of the beautiful areas that surround Steamboat Springs.

Marabou Ranch – Beautiful, rolling ranch located less than 5 miles away from beautiful downtown, the 1800-acre landscape has been established with the care focused on the preservation and protection of the ranch itself. With just 62 homes established, the remaining 1,300 acres are yours to explore.

Storm Mountain Ranch – With only 14 homes on 1,100-acre development, the rest of the land is yours to explore. Featuring miles of single-track trails, Storm Mountain Ranch is designed to get you back in touch with nature while living in your own luxury home. With gorgeous homes often featuring multiple ponds, cascading waterfalls and stunning views. But the design is often left up to you, to construct your dream residence.

Catamount Ranch & Club – With homes around the golf course ranging from 6-8 acres and others upwards of 70 acres, this is a great place for those looking to be close to amenities with their own luxury lifestyles. The properties around the lake are approximately 35-75 acres. The rolling, lush green hillsides that surround the 530-acre Catamount Lake are just some of the views you have the potential of waking to every morning. Your day could begin with an early morning ride or hike on the miles of Catamount’s hiking trails, continue with a canoe journey, and culminate the evening on a fly-fishing adventure with your children.8

The first town challenge went off today at Marabou! A weekly mountain bike race series that travels to different trails around town, this was the third year in a row that the series has opened up at Marabou. Traditionally closed to the public, Marabou gracefully opens their trails up a week leading up to the race and for race day. This year over 200 participants hoped on their bikes and challenged each other and the rolling terrain of the course. A course that is flatter than the majority of the trails in town, the Marabou race is a great way to ease back into racing after a great winter on the mountain. The top riders rode the outer loop of the course, finishing the 12 mile loop in just over 50 minutes.

The Porches of Steamboat have seen positive sales in their community over the last half-year. Over this time frame ‘the Porches has made six sales; three fractional interests in the Private Residence Club and three whole ownership units, one of those being a pre-construction purchase.’ Similar to the success of One Steamboat Place, the Porches describes their success as a result of the quality of their development. Bruce Shugart, the developer of the Porches states, ‘We have remained true to our vision, emphasizing three core tenants: quality craftsmanship, exceptional service and attention to detail. Delivering on this promise has enabled us to remain viable.’

The Porches has been developed with the idea of creating ‘a genuine neighborhood perfect for multi-generational family gatherings.’ True to their name, each residency in the Porches has a large, exterior deck for gathering in the morning for coffee or in the evening to regale your day. With their success, the Porches is continuing their building of new residencies into 2010, for more information on specific floor-plans and designs contact me at or 970-819-6930.
